Two-Day Zen “Explore” Program
The Two-day Zen Explore Program will take participants through a typical day in a monastery. It is an ideal program for both novice meditators and advanced practitioners.
Starting on Saturday afternoon with a tour of the retreat center, a review of the meditation method in a guided session follows; the day ends with daily evening and bell ceremony.
The retreat continues Sunday morning with a morning ceremony, a Tai Chi exercise, another guided meditation session, and a panel discussion before lunch. Walking meditation is another form of Zen mindfulness training; a lunch is followed by a short afternoon walking meditation session that takes participants down a beautiful wooded trail. Six miles of trails at the center provide a variety of peaceful views and surroundings for those who wish to explore on their own. The two-day retreat program ends with a final meditation session and a traditional dedication ceremony. Participants come away with a complete experience of the ancient traditions practiced in an authentic Zen monastery.
For those who already have practiced Zen meditation for a period of time, the Two-day Explore Program also can be a smooth stepping stone toward the more intensive 3-day and 7-day meditation retreats.
