Master Jian Xiao is the vice abbot of the Texas Pagoda Chan Monastery in Shepherd, Texas. He has an MA in economics and an MBA from Rutgers University in New Jersey. Prior to coming to Texas, Master Jian-Xiao held various positions at Chung Tai’s headquarters in Taiwan, including director of ceremonial affairs. Later, he was appointed abbot of a large meditation center in Taipei and as Dharma instructor of several collegiate Buddhist associations in Taiwan. He also served as acting abbot of Ocean Sky Chan Monastery in Manila, the Philippines. Most recently, he had been vice abbot of the Chung Tai Zen Center of Houston.
